Different Shades of Shakshuka

Adult Education / Cook and Taste -
NCE Adult WS 22

Shakshuka is a simple one-pan meal consisting of eggs cooked in tomato sauce. It originated in North African countries, where it was a hearty, affordable breakfast or lunch, a quick fix composed of ingredients that were in hand, and often cooked with leftover sauce from yesterday’s stew. With its forgiving nature, Shakshuka is the perfect dish to implement today’s culinary trends of cooking effortless recipes, avoiding food waste, and freeing up more time to enjoy nourishing meals together. Join us for an afternoon of shakshuka experiences. You will learn how to cook different versions of this dish – from the classic tomato shakshuka to purple shakshuka, a greens-based one, and end with a vegan version. We will focus on how to easily improvise with vegetables and fresh herbs, and how to adjust the flavor with spices. Our afternoon will also include challah baking – the ideal bread to whip up the sauce. Cooking will be demonstrated, all prepared dishes will be served throughout the afternoon. All dishes are vegetarian. Bring plastic containers for leftovers.
