Join us for an action-packed class where students will play a variety of exciting games, such as street hockey, soccer, football, dodgeball, basketball, wiffle ball, and more! In addition to learning the fundamentals of these sports, we’ll have lively discussions about current events in the sports world, learn about the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, and use sports-themed cards and prizes to reinforce what it means to be a team player. Participants should wear sneakers and comfortable clothes. 6 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives. Let your imagination run wild as we turn your afternoons into Crafternoons! Join us to make, play, and experiment with a wide variety of both traditional and non-traditional art materials. Afternoons may include painting, mixed media, seasonally inspired activities, building with upcycled and recycled materials, and much more. What will we create and discover in this welcoming and collaborative space? Because social connections are a big part of kick-starting creativity, classes will also include breaks for games, movement, or music. Whenever possible, we will also take advantage of the increasingly nice weather, using the outdoors as a workspace and a source of inspiration! 6 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. Together we'll journey through the amazing world of animals as we learn about their habitats, behaviors, and adaptations. This class blends creativity and discovery: we'll craft animal-themed projects, engage in imaginative play and storytelling, share personal experiences, and investigate animals that coexist with us outside at Sunita Williams School. We will explore and care for the school's outdoor garden, learn about and celebrate local plants and animals, and discover the magic of nature through imaginative games and building projects. From creating nature obstacle courses and building forts in the woods to constructing miniature animal shelters and designing eco-friendly art, we'll use natural materials to spark creativity and inspire collaborative play. We'll also learn about the importance of protecting our environment and discover how to minimize our impact on the natural world. Through these hands-on adventures, we will cultivate a deep appreciation for the natural world and a love for exploration and discovery. Note: Even on cloudy days or during gentle rain, the outdoors provides endless opportunities for exploration, inspiration and play. Martial Arts is the perfect way for students to channel their energy into something positive while learning valuable skills! This action-packed class combines fun, fitness, and discipline as students dive into our martial arts program. With each class, students build confidence, improve coordination, and develop strength, agility, and focus. Led by experienced, enthusiastic instructors, the program fosters teamwork, respect, and determination, all while making every session feel like an exciting challenge. Whether they're kicking, punching, or learning self-defense moves, students will find themselves engaged in high-energy drills, games, and interactive activities. Every day brings something new, keeping everyone motivated and eager to return. The program emphasizes not only physical fitness but also includes the life skills portion of our lessons which helps students grow into well-rounded individuals who are ready to take on any challenge with a positive attitude. Clay Club is a fun, hands-on pottery series where students will learn foundational clay skills through sculpting pieces like pinch pots, trinket dishes, mugs, picture holders, magnets, and seasonal ceramics. Students will explore texture tools, molds (like stickers for clay!), learn how to attach pieces properly, and bring home up to 3 finished ceramic creations. No prior experience needed. PLEASE NOTE: Pieces will be fired and glazed, so they are waterproof and food-safe, at the Pottery with a Purpose studio in Needham Heights (178 Crescent Rd. Needham MA 02494) and will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after the last class. 4 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. Students will also get the chance to rotate playing some of their other favorite sports games throughout the session including dodgeball, soccer, flag football, kickball, pickle, and many others. If you love sports and variety, this will be a fan-favorite class for you! At the end of each class, we will discuss current events in sports, learn the importance of maintaining a healthy active lifestyle, and reinforce in-class learning using sports cards and prizes. This class is a fun way to be active, learn about teamwork and sportsmanship, and make new friends! Participants should wear sneakers and comfortable clothes. 4 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives.
