    Let your imagination run wild as we turn your afternoons into Crafternoons! Join us to make, play, and experiment with a wide variety of both traditional and non-traditional art materials. Afternoons may include painting, mixed media, seasonally inspired activities, building with upcycled and recycled materials, and much more. What will we create and discover in this welcoming and collaborative space? Because social connections are a big part of kick-starting creativity, classes will also include breaks for games, movement, or music.     Intro to Embroidery is a fun introductory class designed for those who are new to embroidery, or those who want to improve upon the abilities they already have! We'll begin by learning all the foundational skills—how to thread a needle, tie simple knots, as well as some of the most important stitches and techniques. Each week students will also have lots of time for imaginative experimentation and free play with color, texture, and design. We will utilize both indoor and outdoor spaces to keep ideas fresh, drawing inspiration from natural surroundings to create beautiful, stitched works of art. 6 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day.     This creative class invites students to explore art through the beauty of the natural world. Using nature as inspiration, students will experiment with mixed media supplies—including paint, clay, and recycled objects—alongside gathered items like leaves, sticks, and stones. Through both indoor and outdoor experiences, students will balance individual projects with collaborative teamwork. Using problem-solving and imagination, the group will work together to design and build unique cooperative projects.     In this class, students will explore the exciting contrast between flowing watercolors and bold black ink. They will learn to create amazing pieces of art inspired by stories, poems, and their own imaginations. Each week will focus on a different area of exploration, such as landscapes, animals, and abstract art. We will even incorporate the occasional moment of zen with a quick meditation break or a few stretches to keep focused and inspired. We'll also learn about the importance of protecting our environment and discover how to minimize our impact on the natural world. Through these hands-on adventures, we will cultivate a deep appreciation for the natural world and a love for exploration and discovery.     Capture amazing photos using just an iPad and your imagination! In this class, young photographers will learn how to turn everyday scenes into stunning works of art. We'll explore creative techniques with projects that may include a photo color hunt, creating chalk backgrounds for our shots, and a forced perspective project, using optical illusion to create playful images. We'll learn how to frame a perfect shot, tell a story through pictures, and even make our own picture frames for photos. We'll also hold a portfolio showcase to share and celebrate our work. Get ready to have fun, express yourself, and learn how to capture the world in a whole new way! Students will work together to make virtual realities come to life. We will use our imagination to recreate our favorite video games through art, games and physical activities.     Join local author Jacky Sinha for a fast-paced, 5-week creative workshop! Students will explore the entire book-making process—including storytelling, revising, and illustrating. Whether you're a writer, an artist, or dreamer with a great idea, this workshop welcomes all and celebrates turning your unique vision into a tangible story. Optional publishing package available: Students will have the exclusive option to professionally finalize and publish their work through Lemon House Publishing (additional fee applies).     Clay Club is a fun, hands-on pottery series where students will learn foundational clay skills through sculpting pieces like pinch pots, trinket dishes, mugs, picture holders, magnets, and seasonal ceramics. Students will explore texture tools, molds (like stickers for clay!), learn how to attach pieces properly, and bring home up to 3 finished ceramic creations. No prior experience needed. PLEASE NOTE: Pieces will be fired and glazed, so they are waterproof and food-safe, at the Pottery with a Purpose studio in Needham Heights (178 Crescent Rd.
