Join fellow French language lovers, conversing in a warm and inviting setting class led by an enthusiastic near-native speaker. This course is designed for students who have an advanced comprehension and expression. We will refine our French via word nuances, sophisticated locutions, figurative French and advanced grammatical topics.

Would you like to speak Spanish fluently, already have a knowledge base of advanced grammar and a wide vocabulary base but need to practice and improve? In this class students will be required to prepare presentations of a topic of their interest, current events, etc. The group will listen and discuss the content of the presentation, learn new vocabulary and review grammar points. Students at this level will acquire vocabulary on a wide range of topics and will gain proficiency in expressing wants, needs and obligations (devoir, vouloir, pouvoir), build on the present and start the simple passé composé. Grammatical topics include the definite and partitive articles, prepositions, adverbs, direct object pronouns, present and passé composé. Bonjour! Join this welcoming and lively French conversation class led by an enthusiastic native speaker. This is your chance to learn, practice and improve your conversational French in a relaxed, fun yet structured setting. This course is appropriate for students who have a solid knowledge of the use of the present tense in Spanish as well as everyday vocabulary. This program is designed to give beginning students a practical command of the Italian language. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to discuss everyday activities and describe situations using the present tense. You can also expect to be able to read and write elementary texts such as a simple letter. Topics include pronunciation, adjectives, expressions of date and quantity, indefinite and definite articles, and first conjugation -are verbs (Prego chapters Preliminary-2). Continue to develop your Italian language skills learned in Beginning Italian. You will improve your listening skills and conversational ability through structured dialogues and other practical activities, and begin to communicate more precisely as you learn -ere and-ire verbs in the present. Topics will include: review of expressions of date and quantity, indefinite and definite articles, past tense, interrogatives, and direct object pronouns (Prego chapters 2-4). Advance your Italian language skills in this Intermediate level program. Upon completion, you should be able to discuss topics such as moods, travel, holidays and business, using the present and past tenses. This class will emphasize improvement of oral comprehension and creative expression through the use of teaching resources, including reading selections. Indirect and direct object pronouns, expressions of time and duration, simple and articulated prepositions will be covered (Prego chapters 4-6). Students will need to purchase the Prego textbook. Upon completion of this level, students should be able to discuss topics including health, travel, holidays and business using the present, past and immediate and probability with simple future tense. This level continues to emphasize the improvement of oral comprehension and creative expression. Topics reviewed include imperfect tense versus passato prosssimo, disjunctive pronouns, comparatives and new topics include simple future tense, impersonal form and double object pronouns (Prego, Chapters 9-11). After completing this course, students can expect to converse with greater confidence and precision. More complex reading selections provide authentic opportunities for vocabulary development and creative use of the language. Upon completion of this level, you should be able to understand and participate comfortably in conversations on a wide range of topics. NCE’s talented foreign language instructors offer private/semi-private lessons online! Each registration allows 1-2 people or 3-4 people to schedule lessons together, in either 4-hour or 10-hour blocks. Open to students of all levels who wish to improve their French, Spanish or Italian language skills. Lesson packs are valid from September 1-December 31, 2026.
