Maker Space: Build, Create, Explore (session 1)
After School Classes for Newman Students

In this hands-on class, students will become creators, designers, makers, and outdoor explorers. Students will tackle building challenges, creative design projects, and team-based outdoor quests each week. From prototyping inventions with natural and recycled materials to mastering brick-building design challenges to navigating outdoor scavenger hunts, students will collaborate in ways that stretch their imagination. It’s the ultimate mix of maker space, nature expedition, and team challenge - built for curious minds who love to design, play, and make. 5 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives. Students are welcome to have a nut-free snack during this time. Pickup is promptly at 4:25pm. NEDP students will be escorted to NEDP at the end of their NCE class.

Improv, Acting and Performing (session 2) ** (Newman)
After School Classes for Newman Students

Students will take the stage to explore the dynamic world of theatre through high-energy games and creative play. This class will focus on building confidence and self-expression through engaging improvisation challenges and character-building activities. Participants will dive into the basics of theatrical movement and vocal expression, learning to think on their feet while collaborating with others to turn every moment into a unique performance. The group will celebrate everyone's unique personalities as they explore storytelling and comedic timing in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Students will be guided through a variety of theatre games designed to spark imagination and boost stage presence without the pressure of a traditional script. Throughout this class students will develop their creative instincts, sharpen their active listening, and find new ways to express themselves through spontaneous ensemble play. 5 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives. Crafternoon (session 1) (Newman)
After School Classes for Newman Students

Let your imagination run wild as we turn your afternoons into Crafternoons! Join us to make, play, and experiment with a wide variety of both traditional and non-traditional art materials. Afternoons may include painting, mixed media, seasonally inspired activities, building with upcycled and recycled materials, and much more. What will we create and discover in this welcoming and collaborative space? Because social connections are a big part of kick-starting creativity, classes will also include breaks for games, movement, or music. 5 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day.
