Explore old & new hobbies, expand your mind, and engage with classmates!! The Needham Community Education (NCE) Middle School Programs offers high quality enrichment classes that appeal to all students. 

These fun classes, taught by Needham Public Schools staff and other qualified professionals, enable students to extend their learning beyond the classroom in a relaxed & social environment.

Refund Policy: Participants may withdraw from a class and receive a refund, less a $15.00 processing fee, if you notify NCE on or before 2-weeks from the start of class. Refunds are made by check from the Town of Needham and may take up to four weeks to arrive by mail. No credits or refunds can be given after the deadline date, once a class begins, or for missed classes.

Chess Club (Grades 6-8)
Middle School Programs

Taught by CHESS GRANDMASTER, Dima Barash, Chess Club will teach you the game and prepare you for competitive play. Whether you are just beginning to learn, or if you are already a competent competitor, your skills will be further advanced and your love for the game will blossom. Students will improve their chess rule knowledge, hone their chess move strategies, and curate a strong interest in mastering their overall skills. All in a fun and social environment!

Dice Throne (Grades 7&8)
Middle School Programs

If you enjoy Magic: The Gathering or Yahtzee, you will LOVE Dice Throne, which is a table-top board game that combines the best of both games into one. Choose a hero, roll the dice, and damage your opponent. Play cards to help you out or save them to change your opponents dice! There are a variety of heroes and a variety of play styles, making no two games ever the same. We will have 1 vs.1 challenges, team play, King of the Hill matches, character polls, and a tournament to end the class. Check out the Dice Throne website here to learn more!

Weight Training (Grades 7&8)
Middle School Programs

Join us in the Pollard weight room for a beginner weight training class. Learn the basics of proper form and technique for various exercises, building strength and confidence in a safe and supportive environment. No prior experience necessary! Get ready to power up your fitness journey! *this class will be taught by a certified personal trainer
