NCE Winter/Spring 2026 Catalog

Please note that classes fill quickly. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Waitlist: If your preferred class is already full we encourage you to put your student's name on the waitlist -AND- consider registering for another class, as many classes are likely to fill up soon. If your student is able to be moved off the waitlist at any point in time we will be in touch, and make all the necessary adjustments.

For Students in NEDP: Students enrolled in NEDP may also register for NCE Elementary classes. NEDP students will be escorted to NEDP at the end of their NCE class.

Enrollment Policy: Students may only register for NCE classes at the school they currently attend, unless otherwise specified.

Arrival: NCE will begin at the end of the school day. Students are dismissed to the designated NCE waiting area at their school, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Instructor arrives.

Photos: NCE will occasionally be sharing highlights from our classes through Instagram and Facebook. No photos posted on either platform will contain student faces. Instead, our posts will focus on capturing the fun and learning being had during NCE through images of hands at work, art in-process or completed, and engaging action shots.

Needham Community Education (NCE) offers a variety of enrichment programs for grades 1-5 (Fall/Winter) and K-5 (Winter/Spring), located at all Needham Elementary schools. NCE provides students with joyful and educational opportunities in the areas of visual arts, active play, science exploration, chess, technology and beyond. If you are looking to support your student's interests in a space that is welcoming and inclusive, NCE is the place for you!

After School Classes for Sunita Williams Students

LEGO Builders Club invites budding architects and imaginative builders to unleash their creativity while exploring the endless possibilities of LEGO bricks! From constructing towering skyscrapers and intricate vehicles to creating fantastical creatures and imaginative worlds, students will learn valuable engineering concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and foster teamwork and collaboration. With a focus on creativity, imagination, and fun, this class provides a space for students to celebrate themselves, their ideas and one another. 6 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives. Storybook Studio
After School Classes for Mitchell Students

In Storybook Studio, students will create art inspired by stories. Each week we will read a story and then use a variety of mediums to create an art piece inspired by the story itself or the medium the illustrator used. Throughout the course, we will engage with clay, paints, stamps, collage and more! This class promotes narrative comprehension and artistic expression through a variety of fun, creative activities. 6 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives. Students are welcome to have a nut-free snack during this time. Pickup is promptly at 4:00pm. NEDP students will be escorted to NEDP at the end of their NCE class.

Clay Club: Handbuilding & Creative Ceramics ** (Newman)
After School Classes for Newman Students

Clay Club is a fun, hands-on pottery series where students will learn foundational clay skills through sculpting pieces like pinch pots, trinket dishes, mugs, picture holders, magnets, and seasonal ceramics. Students will explore texture tools, molds (like stickers for clay!), learn how to attach pieces properly, and bring home up to 3 finished ceramic creations. No prior experience needed. PLEASE NOTE: Pieces will be fired and glazed, so they are waterproof and food-safe, at the Pottery with a Purpose studio in Needham Heights (178 Crescent Rd. Needham MA 02494) and will be ready for pick up 4 weeks after the last class. 4 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives. Tournament of Champions ** (Broadmeadow)
After School Classes for Broadmeadow Students

Join us for an action-packed class where students will play a variety of exciting games, such as street hockey, soccer, football, dodgeball, basketball, wiffle ball, and more! In addition to learning the fundamentals of these sports, we’ll have lively discussions about current events in the sports world, learn about the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, and use sports-themed cards and prizes to reinforce what it means to be a team player. Participants should wear sneakers and comfortable clothes. 6 classes total NCE begins immediately at the end of the school day. All students enrolled in an NCE class (including those in NEDP) will be dismissed from their classroom to the designated NCE waiting area, where they will be supervised by the NCE Onsite Coordinator until their NCE Class Instructor arrives.
