It's the Bee's Knees! At this honey of an experience, you’ll learn about the Queen of pollinators and the delicious honey the bee community makes for mere mortals to enjoy. A collaboration between Master Beekeeper, Pete Fryckman, and Powisset Farm's Chef Thi, the class will share the wonders of beekeeping, and the flavor profiles of fresh honey combined with a lesson in creating seeded honey for culinary use. We’ll sample honey to enhance cheeses, meats, farm veggies and more, and taste a Prohibition-era Bee’s Knees cocktail. You’ll leave this class inspired and provisioned with new knowledge, a menu card and an elevated appreciation of the importance of bees -- and Queens -- in our daily lives.
Thi Bowles has been active in the culinary world for 20+ years. She started working in restaurants while in college and has worked her way up. She held positions as a restaurant general manager, catering sous chef, executive chef, pastry sous chef and has owned her own restaurant for 5 years which was recognized by the Boston Globe and Phantom Gourmet. She has brought all of that experience and skill to Powisset Farm and is heading the culinary program as the chef and adult cooking program instructor.
Pete Fryckman is the 95th graduate of the Cornell University Master Beekeeper program, a member of the Eastern Apicultural Society, MASSBEE, and the Norfolk County Beekeepers Association; he is a favorite mentor to new beekeepers.
