Introduction to Drones and Drone Safety

Adult Education / Develop Professional and Technology Skills -
Adult Winter-Spring 2024

Have you ever thought about buying or flying a drone (UAS - Unmanned Aircraft System)? Drones are fun, but they are also a lot of responsibility. Whether you want to use drones as a hobbyist or for commercial purposes, there are rules and laws that everyone must follow to maintain safety. This two-session course is for beginners with minimal drone experience. In the first session (held virtually), you will learn the drone laws and how to fly a drone safely. You will also get information about various types of drones and what you should know before purchasing one. Please join the first virtual class on a laptop or computer as we will be taking a test online together to get your hobbyist license allowing you to fly at the in-person session. In the second session, the class will meet outside, and you will have your first experience flying a drone. If you don’t yet own a drone, you will be able to borrow one from the instructor.

Hayden Spitz was born into a family of entrepreneurs, Hayden, like his parents, discovered his passions and turned it into his career. With knowledge of and passion for photography and videography, and having worked at communications and marketing firms, he realized that every client project and event could be heightened with a drone’s perspective. He quickly obtained his FAA Certified Part 107 Drone Pilots license, started Boston Drone Productions, and began seeing and recording the world with a different view. Today, Boston Drone Productions brings that new perspective to you, to share your story.
