Embark on an exciting journey into the world of disc golf with our two-session introductory class designed for beginners eager to discover the thrill of this dynamic sport. Whether you're a curious first-timer or someone looking to build a solid foundation, this course will provide you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to enjoy the game. Bring the whole family (children must be 10+ years old)!
Session 1: Disc Golf Basics and Techniques The first session kicks off with an exploration of the basic principles of disc golf. You will be introduced to the rules, equipment, and etiquette of the game. Get hands-on experience as you learn the fundamentals of proper grip, stance, and throwing techniques for both putting and driving.
Session 2: We’ll apply the skills you gained in session one to a real course. Borderland State Park, on the Sharon-Easton line is one of the top courses in the area. It is a course with four different layouts and we will break into foursomes and play the shortest layout.
Sam Henderson is a lifelong frisbee enthusiast. As a kid, he always jumped at a chance to play catch with anyone who would throw with him, even though it often meant endangering innocent bystanders just trying to enjoy the beach. He joined the Ultimate Frisbee team at the University of Maryland as a Freshman in 2006, and was totally hooked–playing continuously on a college, club, or recreational league until he was selected to play for the Rhode Island Rampage during the Inaugural season of the professional American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL)in 2012. At the conclusion of that season, his interests shifted to playing disc golf, and he headed to the local course at Borderland State Park, with his puppy Dixie, to play at every available opportunity. In 2013, Sam joined the PDGA and started playing sanctioned tournaments, by late summer 2014 I moved up from the amateur to the professional division, and at the start of 2015 received a sponsorship offer from Latitude 64. He moved to Worcester, MA to work at Marshall Street Disc Golf, one of the oldest and largest disc golf retailers in the country and even got the opportunity to play in the first season of the Disc Golf Pro Tour, cashing in all five events and earning a tour card. Unfortunately, a lingering elbow injury, and eventually a global pandemic, forced Sam to move back to Norton. Since returning home, he has reconnected with playing ultimate, taught disc golf lessons, and resumed tournament playing.
