This class will cover how to safely and effectively utilize a hand plane, a shop-made jig, sandpaper, and food-safe finishes. You will employ these skills in the crafting of a set of chopsticks. Choose your own hardwood blanks for your chopsticks from a variety of wood types. The instructor will address any questions that arise as you work on your project. All materials (hardwood chopstick blanks and finish) are included in the cost of the class.
Peter Stein has been making wood furniture personally and professionally for over 25 years. As a graduate from the North Bennet Street School’s Cabinet and Furniture Program, he combines 18th century techniques and know-how with 21st century technology. In 2022, he opened Needham Furniture Makers, an innovative woodshop collective, providing space and machinery for professional and semi-professional woodworkers. After raising his kids in Needham for 20 years, he currently lives in Newton.
