Knitting: Beginning and Beyond

Adult Education / Create and Make -
Adult Fall 2024 Programs

Join this multilevel knitting class, perfect for beginners to learn the basics, including how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. The class is also appropriate for those with some experience knitting who wish to practice and perfect their skills. The instructor will bring knitting needles and sample yarns to the first class to teach the basic skills, and will provide instructions on how to choose a project for the course. Students are also welcome to bring a basic unfinished project to class, if they choose.

Please note that the dates for the late fall session have changed from those in the printed catalogs.

Kate Murray

Instructor

Kate Murray has been surrounded by handiwork all of her life; knitting and crocheting were skills that everybody had, and were a way to make blankets for the babies, and lace for the table. Kate came to NCE first as a student in the knitting class, many years ago, when she was looking to learn to read patterns and never left!. When not knitting, she teaches middle school science and math in Boston. She has a BS in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill, and a Masters in Secondary Science Education from Columbia Teachers College.
