Are you mindfulness-curious? These days, the word MINDFUL seems to be everywhere. There is mindful popcorn in the supermarket and mindful condos on the beach. But what IS mindfulness actually and how can it be useful? If you've been curious about mindfulness and how it might be beneficial in your busy, frenetic life, this is the series for you. Together we will explore what mindfulness meditation IS and what it IS NOT. Each session will focus on a different aspect of this ancient practice first taught by the Buddha 2600 years ago. Through experiencing these practices, and sharing with others in discussion, you will begin to become more aware of the world around you and within you. Absolutely no prior meditation experience necessary.
Lauren E. Rubin began practicing meditation in 1995. She is a mother of two adult children who spent more than 15 years helping new parents to navigate parenthood, in group and individual settings. Her mindfulness practice has deepened over the years through engaging with ancient Buddhist teachings and western meditation masters on retreats and in courses. She has a BA in psychology, an MA in Mindfulness Studies and completed a 2-year, mindfulness teacher certification with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. She has taught meditation to individuals and groups in-person and online for a variety of cohorts including wellness centers, investment firms, and yoga studios. Lauren is delighted to share these ancient practices and teachings with anyone curious about how to live a happier, well-balanced life.
