This program will introduce you to the world of electric vehicles, including electric vehicle basics: how they work, how they differ from traditional internal combustion engine cars, and the environmental impacts. In addition, you will learn about cost savings potential, maintenance requirements, range capabilities, battery charging, regenerative braking, and how to plan for long distance travel. The instructor will also provide information on the future of electric vehicle technology.
Ed Quinlan (BS from Rutgers and MS from MIT) Ed had a 40-year career as an HVAC and energy efficiency consulting engineer, 30 years of that career as a Principal at Engineered Solutions Inc (ESI). Ed’s work focused on assisting Owners of large buildings (schools, hospitals, office buildings, bio-pharma, etc.) to update their mechanical/electrical systems for maximum efficiency. Now retired, Ed volunteers with Green Needham as an “Energy Coach”, providing free technical support to homeowners interested in decarbonizing their home through the use of Solar PV, Heat Pumps, EVs, and other technologies.
