Private Music Lessons
Join us for a lively discussion about the complexity of weight loss, why achieving and maintaining your target weight can be so challenging, and the numerous approaches one can take to successfully lose weight. We will explore the basic science of weight gain/loss. Weight loss medication options including new groundbreaking advances, will be covered, along with information on each option’s risks and benefits. You will learn ways to outsmart your physiology without medication, including dietary considerations and a focus on your microbiome. The under-appreciated but pivotal role of the mind in achieving and maintaining long-term weight loss will also be discussed.
Judi Townsend is a practicing Physician Assistant in Medical Weight Management at Beth Israel Lahey Medical Center. In 2007, she began working under the tutelage of Dr. Louis Aronne from the Comprehensive Weight Management Program at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. Early in practice and prior to recognition by the American Medical Association, she readily supported the idea of obesity as a disease state requiring integrative medical treatment and lifestyle management. She has co-authored with Dr. Aronne in the textbook Understanding Obesity: Biological, Psychological and Cultural influences. She is also a practicing Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a focus on Disordered Eating and Familial Trauma. She is also Certified in Exercise Physiology by the American College of Sports Medicine. She is a recent transplant from New York and has made Newton her home over the past 3 years.
