Private Music Lessons
In this fun class, designed for guitar beginners and taught by Rob's Guitar School, you will learn all of the basics that you need to know to play the guitar. Topics covered will include how to hold the guitar, tuning, strumming, learning easy common chords, singing and playing for those who want to sing and play, learning how to read chord charts and tablature and learning a basic scale or two for those who want to try their hands at solos. Other topics will be covered as the class progresses. This class is designed to teach you all you need to know to be able to play any basic song that you want. Each student must have their own guitar (both acoustic and electric guitars are welcome). If a guitar is needed, online links to an affordable guitar will be provided.
Ethan Emery is a bass teacher for all levels, as well as a beginner/intermediate guitar teacher at Rob’s Guitar School. He is a Berklee College of Music alumni, where he studied with bassists including Gary Willis (Tribal Tech), Victor Wooten (Bela Flek and the Flektones), David Marvuglio (DAATH, Ice Nine Kills), and more. He started playing the bass at the age of 14, and became heavily involved in both the jazz and classical programs at his high school, as well as performing in orchestral pits for musicals. In college, he took the skills from those styles and applied them to the progressive metal genre, primarily working on music from artists like Periphery, Meshuggah, Polyphia, Chon, Plini, Veil of Maya, and others. Currently, he is the bassist in two active bands, Survive the Sun (performances with major touring acts such as Crowbar and Primitive Man, as well as playing the main stage at Welcome to Rockville 2021) and Absurd Condition (NYC based instrumental metal band focusing on polyrhythms and odd-time signatures). “Ultimately, my primary goal is to provide students with a solid technical foundation to explore the music that they love and achieve their personal musical goals in any style.”
