Needham Community Education

In this class, we will learn and celebrate all superheroes—both imagined and real. Exploring imagined vs. real superpowers and participating in superhero-themed games and activities will be a way to practice our super-moves and super-abilities. We will join in some super play, indoors and out, with obstacle courses, web shot practice, and more. We will learn how to fold paper into cells to create a storyboard, draw our own comics, and turn recycled objects into shields, swords, capes, or masks. We will sharpen our conversation skills as we discuss and "define" who is a superhero in our imaginations, our communities, and our world. This class is sure to be a SUPER fun-filled time!

ACTIVE EXPLORATIONS: In addition to the outdoor movement and break times planned by each instructor, students participating in full-day Summer Explorations classes will enjoy a 40-minute active break each day led by highly qualified Needham Public School P.E. and Wellness Instructors. During this time, students will head to the gym or venture outside to get some fresh air and move their bodies. Whether it's a brisk walk around the grounds, high-energy running games and relay races, or exciting team sports and activities, this time is a great way to break up the day, get some energy out, and boost focus for the rest of class!
