In Craft & Chill, students will dive into low-key, high-satisfaction projects while a curated playlist sets the vibe for conversation and creative inspiration. Students will master a variety of meditative and trending crafts, including Diamond Painting to create shimmering mosaic-style masterpieces and Counted Cross Stitch for modern, pixel-art designs. They will also explore the satisfying world of Color-by-Number canvases and Mystery Coloring pages, where intricate designs only reveal themselves as the pigment hits the paper, and Vinyl Sticker Design for creating custom decals for water bottles and laptops. The relaxed environment allows students to focus on the process rather than the finished product, providing the perfect balance of a social hangout and a hands-on creative space.
Instructor: Joshua Sanders, Social Studies Teacher, Pollard Middle School
ACTIVE EXPLORATIONS: In addition to the outdoor movement and break times planned by each instructor, students participating in full-day Summer Explorations classes will enjoy a 40-minute active break each day led by highly qualified Needham Public School P.E. and Wellness Instructors. During this time, students will head to the gym or venture outside to get some fresh air and move their bodies. Whether it's a brisk walk around the grounds, high-energy running games and relay races, or exciting team sports and activities, this time is a great way to break up the day, get some energy out, and boost focus for the rest of class!
