Adult Fall 2026

Join two herbalists–one trained in Western herbalism and one in Eastern herbalism–for this introductory workshop about common herbs and how to use them to promote health for you and your family. Learn how to treat ailments such as seasonal allergies, the common cold, upset stomach, and sleep problems with medicinal plants, before turning to medication. We will review ways to effectively take herbs, where to order good quality herbs from, and necessary precautions to take. You will also have the opportunity to feel, see, smell, and sometimes taste a variety of the herbs and formulations discussed. Limited to 20.

Marcie Bower

Instructor

Marcie Bower, Licensed Acupuncturist, founded Stepping Stone Acupuncture & Wellness in 2010 to provide acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and associated wellness therapies to individuals and families in Wellesley. Marcie received her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture, the oldest college of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in the United States. She is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine and the New York Department of Education to practice Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, and holds a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is a winner of the Tsay Fellowship Award for Excellence in the Art and Science of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Marcie has treated patients with many different health conditions in a variety of clinical settings, including community health centers, public health projects, inpatient and outpatient hospital clinics, and private practice. She now lives in upstate NY with her husband and two kids, and runs an acupuncture and herbal medicine practice there. She is excited to return to Stepping Stone for this event!


Marissa Farrell

Instructor

Marissa Farrell is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Yoga Teacher, and Holistic Herbalist. Before becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2015 through the Bancroft School of Massage, Marissa created and (still) instructs a unique yoga practice based on the Astanga Vinyasa, and Iyengar methods of yoga. These traditional styles are heavily influenced by her years of dance, martial arts, personal training, extensive anatomy and physiology education, therapeutic touch providing Myofascial Release through massage, and of course, simply working those skills since 1998. In addition to being a licensed massage therapist and certified yoga instructor, Marissa is a long-time trained doula, certified childbirth educator, and Abdominal Therapist under the training of Rosita Arvigo. She is also a holistic herbalist with extensive training in the use of Western Herbs. She runs her own company, the Inhara System, making herbal tinctures, teas, and steams for a variety of health issues.
