  • Exotic Foods of India

    Food of India spans from very simple to very stylized, rich and exotic, pleasing the palate of the poor and the elite simultaneously. The British were so enamored by the richness and variety of Indian Cuisine that they have claimed some of the dishes as part of their national cuisine. Let’s recreate some of the time tested, exotic recipes. We will learn to make Vegetable Tikka Masala (Paneer tikkas or cubes in a rich, spiced gravy with nuts, carrots and green pepper), Shreekhand (a dessert made with thickened yogurt, saffron, cardamom and almond-pistachio medley), and finally Green pulao (basmati rice cooked with cauliflower, potatoes, and peas with a cilantro chutney base), Come, explore this exotic cuisine with Shruti Mehta. A $20 ingredients fee is payable to the instructor in class.

  • French Café: Conversation and Culture

    Bonjour! Join this welcoming and lively French conversation class led by an enthusiastic native speaker. This is your chance to learn, practice and improve your conversational French in a relaxed, fun yet structured setting. You will also have the chance to increase your knowledge of French history and culture and discuss topics that will surely raise passions. Isn’t this what French is all about? This program is for those who have taken French classes and/or have strong skills in speaking and listening. We will review advanced grammar topics including object pronouns, compound tenses, and subjunctive, with assignments to practice your skills throughout the week.     This relaxed French conversational class will allow the opportunity for Conversational French and French Café students to gather, with Barry, for in-person evenings of engaging conversation during their class intersession.

The excitement never ends and the games and challenges change continuously so we encourage students to enjoy this class for as many weeks as they’d like. You can double the fun! Working with the natural variation in real stone materials always yields a beautiful result. At the end of the week you’ll be proud of what you’ve made and how much you’ve learned! No prior experience necessary. Each project is designed to be completed by a novice and is carefully chosen to make a piece of art that is worthy of display and/or gift giving. Returning students welcome! Students who joined us for this class during Summer 2022 are encouraged to join us again and further their craft with more advanced variations of our projects.

  • Get to Know the 2024 Mah Jongg Card

    This class is perfect for players who already know the basics of the game and are looking for the opportunity to increase their speed and confidence while familiarizing themselves with the new card. Instructor Sharon Katz will move around the room, offering advice on which hand to pick and game strategy. The four tables will be labeled by speed: 35-40 minute game, 25-30 minute game and 20-25 minute game.

  • Improv Game Fusion: Gr. 6-9, Wk2

    Join a group of students who enjoy making up scenarios and going with the flow. Through fun games and exercises, students will learn the basics of improvised theatre, similar to those featured on the comedy series "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and family games like Charades, Pictionary. Taboo, Codes Names, etc. Throughout this fun day of games, students will develop and sharpen their comedic skills, creativity, self-confidence and resilience, critical and improvisational thinking skills, social/emotional risk-taking skills, and collaborative communication. The sky's the limit, so say "Yes, and" to the idea of ideas.
  • Independence Day-themed Royal Icing Cookie Decorating

    Add some beautifully decorated cookies to your July 4th celebration. In this class, your instructor will teach you how to make the perfect royal icing consistency to fill and outline your Independence Day-themed cookies. You will also learn the technique of wet-on-wet and dry-on-dry for the perfect looking treat. Each student will receive 12 pre-baked cookies ready to be decorated. You will be provided with a box for bringing your cookies home. Note: This class can be a little messy so please bring your own apron. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class.

    Students at this level will acquire vocabulary on a wide range of topics and will gain proficiency in expressing wants, needs and obligations (devoir, vouloir, pouvoir), build on the present and start the simple passé composé. Grammatical topics include the definite and partitive articles, prepositions, adverbs, direct object pronouns, present and passé composé.     This program is designed for students who are already proficient in the skills taught in beginners, have completed all Intermediate 1 and 2 classes, and who want to increase their conversational and comprehension skills. Conducted largely in Italian, this course provides students with an opportunity to markedly improve their speaking and listening skills.   • Intro to Dog Care & Training: Half Day, Gr 6-9, Wk2

    Join professional dog trainers Ciera & Julie for an introduction to the world of dog care and training. Topics covered include dog grooming and health, the history of dog training, jobs for dogs, and dog training techniques. Students will learn proper dog and puppy care and grooming techniques. Additionally, they will be able have the opportunity to have hands-on experience teaching dogs basic obedience cues and tricks, along with exploring careers with dogs, such as Dog Walking.Students will learn essential dog safety skills like how to read a dog's body language and how to properly greet a dog. Special Guest appearances may include Needham Rocket or other Gofi trained dogs. Note: If you are looking for a Full Day option, this class can be pared with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
  • Introduction to Abstract Painting Concepts

    Are you fascinated with abstract art but just don't know where to begin? This class will explore abstract painting concepts for artists of all levels. Come experiment with your artwork and expand your visual boundaries! Explore the visual language of painting in a non-objective, non-figurative fashion and interpret what you see or feel around you as a reflection of your feelings and mood using acrylics. You will learn new ways to view and interpret the world and discover how to make compositional choices through line, form, shape, color, texture, and more. All supplies will be provided for this class, but students are welcome to bring their own art supplies or small table easel. You will be guided through a series of exercises designed to master these important abstract painting concepts and create your own masterpiece to take home with you.
  • Introduction to Bird Watching

    Birds are all around us and often we don’t even notice. Taking up bird watching will enhance every walk in the woods or day at the beach! In this class, you will learn about two amazing apps for your phone that will help you identify birds and keep track of the birds you have seen. We will then go on a morning walk to practice our new found skills and see how many different bird species we can identify together. Note: Please bring a pair of binoculars (8 x 42 recommended) to the bird walk.
