Private Music Lessons
Using the slab technique of hand-built pottery, create a bowl, vase or plate with your favorite flower pressed to it and then paint with your choice of colors. During the first session, you will craft up to two pieces ready to be bisque-fired. In the second session, you will decorate with underglaze (similar to watercolor). The final pieces will be glazed, and students will be able to pick up their pieces from the NCE. This class is suitable for all experience levels; no prior experience or skill is needed! All necessary materials, including clay, underglaze, glaze, and tools, will be provided. Note: Bring your favorite plant/flower or select from those that the instructor will provide. Suggested flowers are hydrangeas, violas/pansies, and lavender. Flowers should be flat as they will be pressed to the clay. A $30 materials fee is payable to the instructor in class.
Simone Azevedo was a senior executive for over 25 years and in 2019 she changed directions and started studying hand-building ceramics and has a studio at home. Simone has expanded her love for ceramics and now also does watercolor and embroidery where she explores colors, textures and patterns. Nature is a big inspiration for the work Simone does.
