Bicycle Repair, Maintenance and Safety

Adult Education / Be Active -
Adult WS2025

As the cycling season gets underway, learn how to keep your bike in optimal condition, how to fix basic problems that arise, and how to stay safe on the road. The focus of the first session will be pre-ride preventative maintenance and checks to minimize mechanical failures on the road, and on-road emergency simple repairs to get rolling again, including fixing a flat tire, a chain drop, and spoke break. We will also cover gear and brake adjustments and other "mechanicals.” In the second session, you will learn skills for riding on the road safely and with confidence, including accident and hazard avoidance techniques, emergency stops, fast turns, rules of the road, safety equipment and group riding protocols among other topics. There will be opportunities to practice these skills in class. Bring your bike (any type) to both sessions and your helmet and riding gear to the second session.
