Have you considered participating in a triathlon, but feel intimidated? Are you looking for a new adventure and just don’t know how to get started or what’s involved? How much time do I need? What do I wear? What does training look like? What happens on race day? In this program, Coach Adina will answer all these questions and help you build your training plan so you are ready to complete your first triathlon with confidence. We will work toward participating in the Whaling City Tri & Du on Sunday, July 20, at Fort Taber Park. This beautiful race is great for beginners and is very spectator friendly, so Coach Adina can support you, and your families can cheer you on! You will swim .25 mi in a protected bay, bike 11.4 miles on roads closed to traffic and run 3.1 miles on sidewalks and paths along the water. Over two classroom sessions, you will gain practical information about gear, training, nutrition, and what happens in an actual race. In addition, you will learn bike basics, what goes into a good training plan and get assistance creating your personal 8-week plan. We will meet for a group run and discussion on running for triathlon. An open water swim clinic will cover water safety, wetsuit usage and swimming in a group. This program will provide you with the knowledge and motivation you need to reach the finish line. Participation in the Whaling City Tri is optional. Race fee is not included as part of the course. The details and registration link can be found at: https://www.outsiderendurance.com/whaling-city.
