Retirement is a lifelong process. Though there are books to read on the topic, it can be helpful to discuss entry into this new phase of life with peers. During the first meeting of this two part discussion series we will address the topics of reframing purpose and structuring a day, as well as opportunities for learning, volunteering and recreation. At the second meeting, participants will have a chance to check back in with each other on any progress they have made in thinking about or researching their own particular retirement interests. The aim of this forum is to welcome, to encourage, and to share resources for retirement.
Marianne Marks, a retired teacher, began a “next steps” group with a couple of friends. Two years later, the group continues to meet because its seven members find it a valuable touch point in navigating retirement. She thinks the model is worth sharing. In her retirement, Marianne enjoys facilitating adult writing groups because the writing process has integrity, leads to rich conversation and builds a sense of community. A graduate of Harvard University, she recognizes the power of writing to organize thinking, stimulate brain connection, and promote a sense of satisfaction when the process yields a complete original piece. She is a retired teacher who continues to grow her own writing practice. https://www.mariannemarkswritingcoach.com/
