Flash Fiction: Tiny Stories with a Punch

Adult Education / Create and Make -
Adult Fall 2025

Can you tell a whole story in 100 words? Together we will read some “micro flash fiction” pieces, explore what makes a story a story, and experiment with word choice and phrasing exercises. Using prompts, you will have a chance to write your own stories at your own pace. Then, we will practice giving constructive critique and using feedback to improve our stories. The instructor will share some popular flash fiction contest sites where you can further hone your skills, meet other writers, and even win prizes! This workshop is for anyone with an interest in writing, all ability levels welcome and encouraged. Note: Please allot approximately one hour outside of class each week to compose your 100-word stories.
