Learn the fundamentals of building custom picture frames, using both hand and power tools to create precise, polished results. This class will guide you through the full process, from dimensioning stock of selected woods (like white oak, cherry, walnut and maple) to mounting artwork with a matte behind a plexiglass front, and installing hanging hardware. In the process, you will develop precision skills in measuring, jigs, joinery, routing, gluing and finishing. The finished frame will mount an 8 x 10 picture with a matte. The instructor will demonstrate each step and provide guidance throughout, with opportunities for hands-on learning and individual attention. Project materials (wood, plexiglass, mounting materials and hardware) are included in the cost of the class. Tools will be provided. Note: Students are encouraged to bring a sharp pencil, tape measure, and combination square and eye protection. Limited to 6.
